Paul McCartney wrote it around the time the Beatles broke up. Worried and stressed, Paul\u2019s mother (Mary) appeared to him in a dream and told him to \u201clet it be.\u201d It\u2019s a beautiful and meaningful piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another beautiful thing about this song is that it\u2019s built on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianote.com\/blog\/play-any-song-on-the-piano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four basic chords<\/a> that beginner piano players learn first. So, chances are you already know these chords and can transition between them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If not, no worries. Paul took piano lessons as a kid but didn\u2019t enjoy them, preferring to play his own way. He wrote \u201cHey Jude\u201d for Julian Lennon (John\u2019s son) when his parents split up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet It Be\u201d only uses a few basic chords as well: F, C, Bb. Sometimes I play the notes in a different order\u2014these are called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianote.com\/blog\/piano-chord-inversions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inversions<\/a>! It has a ska influence but is also built on very simple chords!
