There are also some accidentals to keep in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main theme of the song is essentially four eighth-note patterns in the right hand. If you like chords, you can think of the song as moving through an <strong>Amaj &#8211; G#m &#8211; Gaug &#8211; F#m &#8211; Emaj7<\/strong> progression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"box-snippet\">\n<div class=\"shadow\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div><i class=\"fas icon fa-piano\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"text-container\">\n<b>What&#8217;s an augmented chord?<\/b> Gaug is an augmented triad. You can think of an augmented triad as a major triad that\u2019s been spread wider (\u201caugmented\u201d) by one half-step. This is because a G major triad would be G-B-D but a G augmented triad is G-B-D#. The Gaug chord in \u201cGolden Hour\u201d only appears for one measure, but the little tension it contributes gives the song so much depth.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-original-version-hands-together\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>The Original Version &#8211; Hands Together<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The original version requires us to play eighth-note patterns in both hands, and each hand will play its own pattern!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our left hand will basically outline the chords (Amaj &#8211; G#m &#8211; Gaug &#8211; F#m &#8211; Emaj7). Putting them together is the tricky part and might take more practice! It <em>looks <\/em>easy, but having each hand play its own unique pattern is a brain workout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which is why this song is the perfect hand independence exercise! Plus it sounds super pretty \u2728<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"playing-tips\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Playing Tips<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s some practice tips to help you along:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The hand positions in this song are quite close together, so watch your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianote.com\/blog\/perfect-posture-at-the-piano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posture<\/a> and try to stay relaxed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always practice slowly at first!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice those transition points\u2014that is, transitioning from chord to chord and pattern to pattern.
