So, make a note in your head that all E\u2019s and B\u2019s are flat by default!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, Freddie plays this entire riff with both hands as an accompaniment while he sings. You\u2019ll see similar patterns throughout the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adding-the-melody\" style=\"font-size:28px\">Adding the Melody<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let\u2019s add the melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The left hand stays pretty similar here, except we scooch down to form a similar chord figure for Gm with our left hand. Your hands will not line up. And when you practice slowly (which you should first!) it might sound a little strange. But play it at the intended speed and you\u2019ll hear the melody clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feel free to rewind the video a few times if this part is confusing for you. For the more visually inclined folks, here are some graphics with counting that might help. It\u2019ll still sound awesome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"box-snippet\">\n<div class=\"shadow\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div><i class=\"fas icon fa-piano\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"text-container\">\n<b>Hot Tip!<\/b> Weird rhythms can be difficult to make sense out of, but breaking them down can help. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianote.com\/blog\/complicated-rhythms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn how<\/a> to deconstruct complicated rhythms on the piano like we did in the graphics.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-chromatic-section\" style=\"font-size:28px\">The Chromatic Section<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The next part looks a little crazy, so take it slow. Practice the left hand on its own a few times first if you need some extra focus here. There are quite a few accidentals happening\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musora.com\/musora-cdn\/image\/quality=85\/https:\/\/pianote.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/blog\/2021\/Bohemian%20Rhapsody%20Rewrite\/Bohemian%20Rhapsody%20chromaticism.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But the chromaticism (stepping down by half-steps) is kinda what makes this part sound so cool \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar chromatic pattern happens in measure 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"box-snippet\">\n<div class=\"shadow\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div><i class=\"fas icon fa-piano\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"text-container\">\n<b>History Bite:<\/b> Producing \u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d was no easy task. In Queen\u2019s time, everything  was analog and manual. Since editing was relatively difficult, recording required a high degree of commitment. Freddie was said to have entered the studio with the song fully formed in his head.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"almost-there\" style=\"font-size:28px\">Almost there&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another part that looks a little complicated is measures 15-16, but we\u2019re almost done so hang on tight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musora.com\/musora-cdn\/image\/quality=85\/https:\/\/pianote.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/blog\/2021\/Bohemian%20Rhapsody%20Rewrite\/Bohemian%20Rhapsody%20-%20c%20flat.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Practice that left hand first. On your right hand, you\u2019ll notice a C flat. That\u2019s just the same note as B natural. This part sounds a little funky, but it\u2019ll resolve soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"and-youre-done\" style=\"font-size:28px\">&#8230;And you&#8217;re done!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the song winds down. Freddie used the piano in many of his songs, in recordings, and on stage. He used concert grands, synthesizers, and even a harpsichord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freddie was obviously very creative, and you can be too! While we\u2019ve provided the full sheet music to let you play as close to the original as possible, you don\u2019t always <em>have <\/em>to play things exactly the way they\u2019re written.
