In this song:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The main chords are<strong> E\u266d<\/strong>, <strong>B\u266d<\/strong>, <strong>A\u266d<\/strong>, and <strong>Cm<\/strong>. These are your I, V, IV, and vi chords.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll also encounter wild card chords that add tasty tension to the song. These are <strong>A\u266dm<\/strong> and <strong>Bdim<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wish-you-the-best-intro\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>\u201cWish You the Best\u201d &#8211; Intro<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re in E-flat major, which means we have three flats: B\u266d, E\u266d, and A\u266d. The intro is fairly simple: it\u2019s all about rocking between the E\u266d and B\u266d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On our left hand, we\u2019ll play E\u266d in the bass. This is the <strong>tonic<\/strong> (first) note of E-flat major. In other words, home base!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"verse\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Verse<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The verse is similar to the intro, but it\u2019s got a little more stuff thrown in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re still doing the E\u266d &#8211; B\u266d rock, but sometimes we throw a D in there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On our left hand, we play a <strong>I-V-vi-V-IV<\/strong> progression. That\u2019s <strong>E\u266d &#8211; B\u266d &#8211; Cm &#8211; B\u266dsus4 &#8211; A\u266dsus2<\/strong>. The piano part starts to match what Lewis is singing more closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"chorus\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Chorus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the pre-chorus, we start with the vi chord in the form of Cm7 and end on an A\u266dsus2 chord. This will make the song sound a lot bigger and grander. If you can\u2019t stretch into octaves, play fifths instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The right hand is based on the same rocking motif, but we build on it by adding more melody. A good way to learn all these changes (and to develop your ear training!) is to just listen to the song very closely and hear where the notes go up or down. Which shows how small tweaks to basic chords can make a big impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bridge\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Bridge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The bridge takes everything you\u2019ve learned and pulls the intensity up a few notches. We even get a <strong>Bdim<\/strong> chord which adds a lot of extra tension!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can, try to play octaves in this section! It\u2019ll make a big difference. Playing <em>forte<\/em> (loud) will also help establish this part of the song as the climax.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more contrast, play the verses and the last part of the bridge very softly, and the chorus slightly louder. Then, when the first part of the bridge arrives, give it your all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"about-the-song-wish-you-the-best\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>About the Song \u201cWish You the Best\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve watched the music video for this song, you\u2019ll know what we mean when we say it\u2019ll pull your heartstrings. The music video is based on the true story of Greyfriars Bobby, a 19th century terrier who stood guard over his master\u2019s grave for 14 years.
