Today we\u2019re focusing on RHYTHM&#8230; and I&#8217;m wondering, <i>can you play this one?<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rhythm brings emotion and context to your playing. It can create tension or relief. Learning this new rhythm might really challenge your skill, but the results of patience and practice are well worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i>You can do this!<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve got some quick tips and a fun routine that will improve your hand independence, and maybe just \u2018break your brain\u2019 a little bit! \ud83e\udd2f\ud83e\udd2f\ud83e\udd2f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Let\u2019s Get Started \ud83c\udfc1<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To begin learning a new rhythm, I always like to tap it out on my legs (or a table), so I can \u2018feel it out\u2019 before adding it to the piano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with your left hand. It\u2019s just 4 claps on the beat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:24px\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#f61a30\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong><u>1<\/u><\/strong> &amp; <strong><u>2<\/u><\/strong> &amp; <strong><u>3<\/u><\/strong> &amp; <strong><u>4<\/u><\/strong> &amp;<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alright, now here\u2019s where things are going to start to get wild:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the video as I add in my right hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><video playsinline=\"\u201c\u201d\" autoplay=\"\u201c\u201d\" src=\"https:\/\/pianote-blog.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/Can%20You%20Play%20This%20Rhythm\/counting.mp4\" loop=\"\" muted=\"\" width=\"100%\"><\/video><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026Did you get it? \ud83d\ude13\ud83d\ude13\ud83d\ude13<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1000 bonus points if you did&#8211; but I\u2019ve got a much simpler way to lay this rhythm out for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>The Trick \ud83d\udc7b <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All you\u2019ve got to do is think about when your hands are hitting your legs.
