At Pianote, it’s our mission to spread piano education as far and wide as possible. Because we believe in one simple truth:
Life is better with music.
And factors like age and location should not be barriers to achieve your lifelong dream of playing the piano.
So how did we get here?
Our founder, Jared Falk, grew up on a duck farm in rural Canada. He’s a drummer (but we don’t hold that against him) and the founder of Drumeo, one of the world’s leading online music education brands.
In 2008, Jared bought PianoLessons.com and launched The Piano System with pianist Nate Bosch. This was our first curriculum and it included DVD lessons, play-along CDs, and workbooks.
The year was 2016, and a fresh-faced, white-haired dynamo named Lisa Witt started coming into the Pianote studios to do some filming.
It was only a matter of time before Lisa became a full-time instructor and eventually the Pianote Brand Ambassador. Her connection with students is unique and precious, and she has the uncanny ability to instill belief, confidence, and a sense of fun into the learning process.
In the summer of 2019, Lisa filmed a short lesson that would change the piano for millions of people. “Create Emotion With 3 Notes” became an instant hit. Now with millions of views, it has shown people all over the world that you can play beautiful music on this instrument even if you’ve never touched it before.
As Pianote has expanded and grown, we’ve brought in some of the world's best piano players to help teach concepts and genres they are experts in. From Beyoncé’s touring pianist (Victoria Theodore) to a gospel superstar who plays with Kirk Franklin (Erskine Hawkins), to arguably the world’s greatest living improviser (Jesús Molina), you’ll find all of them and more inside the Pianote Member’s Area.
Today, Pianote is part of the Musora family of online music learning communities. Our sibling brands include Singeo, Drumeo, and Guitareo. (So if you ever get bored of piano, try one of our other instruments!)

In-house instructors
Lisa Witt
Lisa has been teaching piano for 19 years and in that time has helped hundreds of students learn to play the songs they love. Lisa received classical piano training through the Royal Conservatory of Music, but she has since embraced popular music and playing by ear in order to accompany herself and others.
Kevin Castro
Kevin Castro is a pianist based out of Vancouver, British Columbia who performs contemporary music. Castro adds his own jazz spin on the songs he performs during solo piano, ensuring it connects with the musicality of the set and the audience. While also performing jazz, Kevin is highly skilled in designing Synth sounds for Pop music and is a very energetic performer.
Brett Ziegler
A jack of all trades (and master of all trades), Brett Ziegler is your guide to broadening your horizons on the keys. From Cocktail Piano, Boogie Woogie, Gospel, and Improv — Brett’s got you covered. He’s taught piano for 23 years, worked as a musical director, technical director, worship leader, recording musician, touring musician, theater bandleader, and so much more — and he can’t wait to connect with you!
Cassi Falk
Each week, Cassi has 30 students going through her home-based teaching studio - and she’s excited to help you too, through Pianote! Cassi is trained as an Elementary and Intermediate Specialist through the Royal Conservatory Teacher Certification Program.

Jesús Molina
Jesús Molina, born in Sincelejo, Sucre-Colombia, started his musical journey playing the saxophone until he moved on to jazz piano at the age of 15. Jesus received the prestigious Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation award in 2015, along with the Juan Luis Guerra Scholarship which included a music education at Berklee College of Music. Today he is one of the rising stars on the international jazz scene.
Sangah Noona
Sangah started her piano journey at the age five, completing her major in jazz piano and having a flourishing career in South Korea before moving to the United States in 2010. As an experienced performer and technical guru on the keys, Sangah Noona is an incredibly versatile pianist that can play in just about any and every style.
Erskine Hawkins
As a music director for Disney star Zendaya, producer and performer, Erskine Hawkins has done a lot. But his favorite thing in the world is playing gospel piano. After touring with Eminem and Rihanna, Erskine focused on his love for gospel music and playing in church. He has become a true master of the genre.
Victoria Theodore
Your favorite coach is here to introduce you to the wonderful world of classical music. You will learn all about the different eras of classical piano and play pieces from famous composers like Beethoven, Bach, and Chopin. Our new Classical Method will prove to you that everyone, no matter their experience level, can play this timeless genre.
Summer Swee-singh
There is nothing quite as satisfying and empowering as being able to put your own spin on your favorite songs. And Summer is a true master of doing just that. She’s truly dedicated to her craft, and is praised for her arrangements and compositions by artists around the world.
