Your time is precious. And it matters.
If you’ve tried learning the piano before, you’ll know the frustrations. How you put in the work, and did everything right, but you didn’t get the results you expected. So...
What went wrong?
Most piano courses teach you one thing at a time, and one thing only. And then you have to practice that one thing over and over again.
But that’s not the best way to learn. That’s like going to the gym and working out only your legs for a month, then moving on to your back, then your arms…
It won’t give you the results you want.
The Pianote Method is different. It has been designed with YOU, the student, in mind. That means you’ll learn and develop the core skills that every piano player needs. And you’ll start from day one. And because you’re using these skills all the time…
They get stronger, and you get better, faster.
So you can play the songs you want to play. And you will, because EVERY level of the Method includes REAL song tutorials.
You won’t be practicing boring technical exercises for months before you can play the songs you want (and the songs people want to hear). You’ll be playing them from the very beginning.
And that’s not all…
All the songs in our huge library have been matched to a level in the Pianote Method. So you can quickly and easily pick songs that you CAN play, no matter what level you’re at.
The end result is more fun. Less frustration...
And a better use of your valuable time.
Welcome to the piano. This level will get you acquainted with this beautiful instrument, and teach you the fundamental skills to be successful on the keys, no matter what style you want to play. You’ll learn how to set up your practice space, identify the notes on the keyboard and start practicing your first scale. But it won’t just be exercises. You’ll learn your first real song.
Scales can get real boring, real fast. In Level 2, you’ll learn how to make scale practice musical so you not only develop greater control and confidence at the keyboard, you also have a ton of fun (and sound great).Feeling comfortable and confident at the keyboard will make you want to keep coming back for more, which is the key to seeing results. This level will teach you good practice habits that will be instrumental in your long-term success.
Chords make songs. It’s as simple as that. In Level 3 you’ll dive deeper into the concepts of piano chords and you’ll learn how to play them better, faster, and more smoothly. This is also the level where you’ll work on your chord inversions, which are the key to changing chords beautifully and with ease. You’ll also learn some “fancy” chords that are simple to play, but sound amazing and give you incredible improvisational options.
Level 3 was all about learning what chords were. Now you’ll learn how to play them like a pro. That means learning the different types of chords and how to play chords in different key signatures. It will be a challenge, but you’ll know it’s worth it when you’re playing a beautiful Adele ballad and learning how to add special riffs and fills to “sparkle” up your playing.Your ear training will also take a big step forward in this level, as you’ll start to learn the skills to figure out what key signature a song is in, and how to identify the order of a chord progression.
Available in FebruaryWelcome to the wonderful world of reading notation! And the best news is that it’s NOT as hard as you might think. In this level, you will learn how to identify and play notes in the treble clef, bass clef, and grand staff. Everything you've learned so far about chords, intervals and hand coordination will help you to have success at reading music. And you’ll also WRITE your own music. You do have the skills. This level will show you how.
Available in FebruaryTake your playing from good to great as you learn how to develop your musicality in Level 6. The sustain pedal, phrasing, dynamics and control will all help you to be the best and most impactful piano player you can be.These more intricate skills are what separate the piano players who sound “okay” from the ones who demand attention every time they sit at the keyboard. You’ll learn how to really express emotion through the keys. Not only will you take your technique and sight reading further in this level, you will also learn how to play from a lead sheet which will open up a whole new world of songs for you!
Available in MarchThis level is all about solving common piano player problems and answering piano questions like "How many key signatures are there?" and "How do I develop better independence between my hands?".Expect to emerge from this level with a clear understanding of how to develop your hand independence, keyboard confidence, practice your technique in creative and exciting ways and improvise in a variety of styles AND the ability to play in every single key signature!
Available in MarchOne of the best things about the piano is that you can play pretty much ANY musical style with it.Classical, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Pop, the list goes on. In Level 8 you’ll learn some of the most popular and fun styles. You’ll learn some beautiful classical music pieces from different eras, before studying the blues and finally moving on to jazz.Who knows, you might even discover a new style of music that you had no idea you loved!
Available in April
Available in AprilAnybody can write a song. Even you! Level 9 will break down the basics of song structure and composition, so you can see how possible it is to create your own music. You don’t have to be Hans Zimmer to create a masterpiece. You’ll learn how different musical styles have their own structures and rules that frame the music. And using those rules, you’ll be able to compose something of your own. You’ll also learn how to listen to music with a “new” ear, hearing things you might never have noticed before.
Available in AprilThe final level of the Pianote Method. But music doesn’t have an end point. In this level, you’ll learn how to turn everything you’ve studied up until now into a lifelong pursuit of learning, discovery, and enjoyment.Everything from how to structure and create your own practice routines, to how to play in a band with other musicians and even get professional gigs.Wherever you want to go with the piano, this level will show you how to create your own journey. But of course, as a Pianote member, you’ll always have access to our professional guidance and help.

I like that when I have questions there is always someone there to answer them. And if I can’t find an answer right away there is usually a video you guys have that I can find the answer, or sometimes I’ll find it on the forum. In a nutshell... you all make piano playing tons of fun. The way it should be!
New York, USA
I took piano lessons 55 years ago. I wanted to be able to play pop music but my instructor told me if I learned classical I could play anything. I got frustrated and stopped. With Pianote, it’s no longer difficult to practice. I can play whenever I want and I have a teacher on demand. One of my best decisions ever!

I work many hours and I’m a mom of a teenager and a 5-year-old. I took private lessons for over a year, but it was hard for me to continue because of my busy schedule.Pianote’s lessons are laid out so well, mimicking private lessons but allowing you to learn at your own pace. I’m super happy and pleased with my decision to join Pianote!
I tried another online site and took a few private lessons. The site wasn’t bad, but it was impersonal, while I found the private lessons to be serious, dull, and expensive.I watched some Pianote lessons on YouTube. I decided to join because of Lisa’s bubbly and enthusiastic personality.
Redcar, United Kingdom
I got a piano last year and signed up for two app type tutorials for piano, but they didn’t gel with me. I watched YouTube for a year, selecting various song tutorials to learn by rote. Then I saw Pianote.Lisa’s infectious enthusiasm had me hooked. And I love the flexibility to practice at my own pace using the online site or the books (which are fabulous).
Clifton, United Kingdom
I’ve taken piano lessons in the past, but not recently. I thought I’d give Pianote a try, and I’m glad I decided to.I’m learning to read sheet music quicker than I ever did while taking private piano lessons.
I want good instruction that I can learn at my own pace, and I want to have a say as to what my learning journey should look like.I love the variety of approaches to learning the keyboard, the structured lessons, the forums for students and teachers and all the song tutorials. I know other sites have got to be jealous. I love everything about Pianote.
I first wanted to play the piano as a child. I also wanted to learn ballet. But we couldn’t afford both so I said I would learn the piano sometime later in life. Well, I’m 66 years old now and I’m having a ball! Anyone should try this and it is never too late to learn!
I was nervous about paying for online lessons, but now that I’m a member I’m comfortable with my decision -- I’m learning quickly, the teachers are very clear in the explanations and demonstrate at a good pace. It’s a great website!

Despite not having too much talent for the piano, I learned a lot during the first year on Pianote. And what’s the most important to me is that I still love every minute of playing. It is the perfect way to learn if you need to fit piano lessons into your busy schedule. I get instant responses to my questions, both online and offline. I’m so happy to be making progress!
Life is busy and it’s tough to predict when you will have time to practice and learn, but learning the piano is easier than I thought it would be.I love that I can learn on my own schedule whenever I have an opportunity. It feels modern and progressive and it can work for anyone.
New Westminster, Canada
I live in the country away from any major cities, so I was looking for a piano tutor. Your foundation course is just what I wanted with step-by-step lessons that fits every level of piano playing and you are so supportive when contacted.
Murray Bridge, Australia
This is the equivalent to a music school where you can learn music no matter where you are in the world. And the best thing is that you are not limited to just practicing - there is so much more you will learn and be able to apply in your piano journey!I honestly love everything about Pianote! It’s inspiring! Encouraging! I’m addicted to Pianote!
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
It’s the best place to learn piano. You get a new song breakdown every week and a step by step program with lots of piano teachers - and you get a fast reply when asking questions.I’m happy I joined!
I’m a little older than probably most piano students, but I’ve had this dream of playing the piano for a while. With Pianote, I can learn at my own pace and there’s tons of info at my disposal.I just wish Pianote would have been available to me sooner. And considering the going price on piano lessons these days, Pianote is a good deal!
I am an academic musician, with a music and education degree from the University of Haifa and a teaching diploma. I know what good music education is when I see it - and I can’t stop saying my praises on Pianote.I found a well-organized system, easy to use interface, high level of teaching and instructors, and fun experience which motivates me. True online music education professionals.

Learning to play piano is a good investment, and Pianote is definitely cheaper than private tutoring. The community is really encouraging and supportive and the lessons are easy to understand and follow.I love the combination of video tutorials with provided sheet music and how easy it is to progress through the lessons - and the continuous new lessons makes learning dynamic and fresh.
The lessons are the closest thing to real private lessons - technique, theory, and application. You always know what you can work on, one thing at a time, and get good at it before moving onto the next lesson. And you’ll get all the lessons to work through at your own pace. Learning to play piano is hard. Piano lessons by Pianote made it easy.
I loved the lessons but felt like they were becoming too advanced, so I decided to leave for a while to practice what I had learned without the expense of paying. It was the most disappointing feeling when I realized I could no longer access my lessons! Pianote is fantastic and gave me absolutely everything I ever needed to learn to play piano.
Canterbury, Great Britain
When I joined Pianote, it was some 20+ years since I last touched a keyboard. I was looking at getting my muscle memory back again… and the exercises that you offer are doing just that!I found the site easy to navigate and I like the way it keeps track of my progress as I move through the lessons. But most importantly, it’s saving me a ton of cash.
I’ve used other piano lesson websites, but the interfaces are too complicated and there was always issues with different apps. I wasted so much time troubleshooting rather than practicing.Pianote gives me nice step by step lessons in progression and a sense of satisfaction. Lisa is so nice to watch and there are always PDFs that go with each lesson.
St. Albans, United Kingdom
I’d been self-taught but hit a wall and wasn’t progressing anymore, so I decided to try Pianote. It’s like sitting down with a friend who’s teaching me how to play while explaining the logic behind what they’re doing. The lessons are well thought out and I can do this all on my own schedule.
Duxbury, Massachusetts USA
“Being able to communicate with instructors and other students is a wonderful thing that you often miss out on other methods.”
